his unique Sacred Vessel began its life as some liquor container and it is a totally unusual piece!

I patiently deconstructed pinecones to line the neck of this vessel and dressed its lower half with an abundance of turkey feathers, courtesy of one of my daughter’s clients who knows I collect feathers.

A singular pinecone sits on the top of the cork while the top of the neck is surrounded by smaller pinecones.
It measures 14 inches high and about 10 inches wide with a scant 3/4 inch mouth opening.

Pinecone medicine: Throughout the span of recorded human history, pinecones have served as a symbolic representation of human enlightenment, the third eye and the pineal Gland. Conifer pine trees are one of the most ancient plant genera on the planet, having existed nearly three times longer than all flowering plant species. The pinecone is the evolutionary precursor to the flower, and its spines spiral in a perfect Fibonacci sequence in either direction, much like the sacred geometry of a rose or a sunflower. Our “pine”al Gland, shaped like (and named after) the pinecone, is at the geometric center of our brain and is intimately linked to our body’s perception of light. The pineal modulates our wake-sleep patterns and circadian rhythms, remains uniquely isolated from the blood-brain barrier system, and receives a higher percentage of blood flow than any other area of the body except the kidneys.

Turkey medicine: Turkey is actually thought to be the Give-Away Eagle or South Eagle of many native peoples. The philosophy of give-away was practiced by many tribes. Simply stated, it is the deep and abiding recognition of the sacrifices of both self and others. People in modern-day society, who have many times more than they need, could use to implement some of Turkey’s teachings.
