Rocky Cranberry Slumped Glass Plate 1″ x 6″ x 9″
Glass Plate: The slumped glass dishes are first composed with cut pieces of rolled sheet glass, 3mm thick. The composition can include sheets of silver foil, crushed glass, paints, glass rods and multiple layers of sheet glass. These are fused together in a kiln to a temperature of roughly 1500 degrees F. The fused form is then slumped onto a clay mold at about 1250 degrees F where the glass softens and sinks into the form underneath. Dishes are appropriate for display and functional use as they are food and dishwasher safe.

I have lived and worked in Santa Fe for the last 12 years and enjoy taking classes at the SF Community College in both glass and ceramics. I have participated in juried shows, galleries and cooperative shops in New Mexico, Idaho, Washington State and Ohio. My work is inspired by the designs of the Art Deco period and early training in fashion design and construction. The pieces reflect my interest in color, composition, line, texture and material chemical reactions
