Happy, Bright Quilt with Red Yellow Black and White Patches

1

This modern and striking quilt has a lot going on. Each block is made of different colors and fabrics, however they all coordinate together in a twisty design that has a lot of movement. The border is made of various square pops of color inserted into a black-on-white printed fabric. The black-n-white striped binding sports some red ric-rac peaking out for yet more interest. The backing fabric is an interesting red striped fabric.

This quilt is perfect as a bed topper, couch or lap quilt, or a picnic quilt. It would be appropriate for male or female, and would coordinate in lots of decorating schemes.

I machine quilted it using my home sewing machine with an original, handguided free-motion design (no markings on the quilt). Square spirals and lots of loops make for interesting designs.

The mitered binding is attached by sewing machine so it is sturdy and well sewn.

Dimensions 50” x 62”

Cotton fabric, cotton batting, cotton thread.

Spot clean first, however the quilt is washable. Wash in cool water using a gentle detergent. Let the quilt air dry for a few hours, then put it in a dryer to fluff it up.

Every item I make is from a smoke free, pet free studio. I use the very best materials available.

I’ve been sewing since I was 5, quilting since I was 12.  I love every part of the process, so much so that I’ve been teaching those processes for over 20 years.  Often I’ll make a quilt for a class sample, and once I’ve taught all I want to teach of that particular design, the quilt comes home and I look for a ‘forever’ home for it.  Hence this shop.  I hope you can find something that fits in your home or maybe as a perfect gift for a loved one.

Hubby and I recently became empty nesters, which is a good thing, right?  Our job is to launch those kidlets successfully, and so off they go to school and work and adult relationships.  We’re enjoying our newfound freedom to travel as a couple, and we love heading out in our tiny camper to new parts of the country to explore, hike, canoe, or just read our books by the side of a river.  Sometimes the sewing machine comes with, and sometimes I bring my hand-sewing along.
